Only 5 km from the picturesque town Matelica, in the heart of the Marche region, is La Casa dei Fiori. Surrounding the house are villages such as Colferraio, Rastia and le Piane. This area is where the high quality wine Verdicchio DOC is produced and from the farm one as an excellent view of the vinyards as well the mountains and the mountain chain of Sibillini.
The farm has all the characteristics of the Marche region with brick buildings and a small piazza in front of the main building...
There is a large wood oven and a large fire place, where some of the farm’s cooking is done the traditional way. Naturally there are stables for the farm animals and some way from the main building there is an hay barn.
When it comes to the interior of the farm, effort has been put into keeping the original details as intact as possible. The stone floors, the visible ceiling beams and the fire place works as a witness to these ambitions.
The farm dates back to the early 19th century and the farming has been active ever since.
The name, Casa dei Fiori, means House of the Flowers. During the traditional procession from close by Rastia the house was clad in flowers and torches. Due to this the villagers named it thus.
The farm has four rooms with the following disposition:
-2 double rooms
-1 twin room
-1 single room (an extra bed can be fitted in here)
When needed, two child beds can be provided.
There are 7-8 beds in total, but extra beds can be added.
There are three bath rooms, whereof two are shared and one is en suite (adjusted for disabled)
The swimming pool measures 10 x 5 metres and are placed with a panoramic view. It can be used between June and September.
The Garden  
The farm is surrounded by a green garden, furnised for outdoors dining and relaxation.
There are plenty fruit trees (figur, hazel nut, apple, pear and cherry) giving beutiful blooms in spring and delicious fruit in summer and fall.
In one corner of the garden one finds the aromatic herb garden where among other herbs, rosemary grows. Naturally the guests are free to use these herbs when cooking.
Other plants growing round the farm are typical of this climate zone, for instance lavender, roses and orchids.
The roads travelling up to the buildings are flanked by oak trees.
