Acquarella
L'Eremo dell’Acquarella is situated at about 700 metres above sea level and consists of a small church, two adjoining buildings and a two floor tower.
The place is of great religious importance and this is where the writing of the first chapter of the Capuciner order was celebrated back in 1529. The church, where about a hundred people can fit in, was built in 1441 and is dedicated to virgin Mary.
The isolated place is suggestive and extremely beautiful.
The only way to get here is by walking, either up the slope from the village of Albacina or by a shorter walk from the road above.

San Vicino
The mountain of San Vicino (1479 metres above sea level) has one of the tallest peaks on the Apennines southern part.
The area is characterised by naked rocks surrounded by wide valleys and grass covered plateaus. Narrow lime stone roads form an intricate net over the mountain and during spring and summer they lead through an incredible exhibition of flowers.
Monte San Vicino is a protected area and one of the few areas where the wild wolf still resides.

Frasassi Caves
These lime stone caves were not discovered until 1971 and is one of the largest cave systems of Europe. The visitor is met by an enormous landscape with great halls covered by mighty formations of stalactites and stalagmites and underground lakes.
The guided tours last for about 75 minutes, English speaking guides are available.

Natural park of Gola della Rossa
The park is about 9200 hectars large and characterised bi tall mountains and undamaged nature. Besides the magnificent caves one finds hot springs, picturesque villages and churches. Eagles and hawks as well as foxes, wild boars and badgers live and prosper in these wild surroundings.
The park is full of walking paths and for those interested in an active vacation it is possible to rock climb and go on cave excursions.
